Collapse of Universal Wealth Preservation Trust & Steven Peter Long jailed January 2019 – Where does that leave me?

Universal Wealth Preservation was a trading name for numerous companies based in Ipswich, Suffolk such as Universal Trustees LLP, Universal Lawyers Ltd and Universal Tax Solutions Ltd to name a few. People may be more familiar with the names behind the scene – Steven Peter Long and Melanie Ann Long.

What services did they offer?

Hundreds of people all over the country entered into Family Wealth Preservation Trusts whereby they transferred their property and life-savings into a Trust under the control of Steven Peter Long either individually or under the umbrella of one of the numerous companies.

Hundreds more made Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney of which the original documents are unlikely to be recovered.

How can Ward Gethin Archer help?

With the collapse of Universal Wealth Preservation and recent confirmation Steven Peter Long is serving time in prison, many clients have already approached us feeling confused and angry that they are not in control of their property.

To compound the problem, client lists have been obtained from former associates of Mr and Mrs Long, who are not regulated, and are directly contacting people putting pressure on them to instruct them as alternative Trustees.

If you are contacted and you feel pressured and confused or you have a Universal Wealth Preservation Trust and want advice, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are already working hard to remove and appoint new trustees and liaising with the Land Registry to regain clients ownership of their properties.

Everyone’s circumstances are different and our specialist local lawyers are on hand to help and advise on the best way forward for you and your family.
