Email Impersonation Attacks

We have been made aware recently of increased email impersonation attacks targeting members of the public, with the email senders purporting to be local law firms.

If you receive an email message that looks like it has come from Ward Gethin Archer and you are not expecting it, or the email itself reads differently to how you would expect an email from us to read then please contact the lawyer dealing with your matter by telephone before acting upon the email contents.

If you are not currently dealing with any of our lawyers then please call 01553 660033 and ask to speak to a member of the IT team to check the validity of an email.

Please remember that Ward Gethin Archer will only provide this firm's bank account details by secure encrypted email or by post. Our account details will not change during the course of a transaction and we will not change our bank account details via unencrypted email. If you receive notification of our bank details by any other method then you should contact us as soon as possible by telephone using any of the numbers available on our website, before sending any funds.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority have an up to date list of scam alerts, including email impersonation attacks, at https://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/scam-alerts/
